Their role, similarly to the bulkhead assemblies with expanded beam and physical contact connectors is separating the interior of the equipment or vehicle’s crew from unfavourable environmental conditions outside. They allow connecting instruments using hybrid deployable tactical jumpers, i.e. those which contain optical fibres and power supply wires in a single cable. This choice allows not only to save time needed to deploy the cable line – one instead of two – but also space on the connection panel – particularly in the times of progressing miniaturization. In this type of products, we have solutions based on expanded beam, physical contact technology or hermaphroditic solutions available for our clients.
If you decide to choose hermaphroditic solutions, you need to bear anti-shock safety in mind, as in such connectors one of electrical contacts will be uncovered which may cause the risk of electric shock. Particularly with voltages above 50 VAC / 75 VDC, it is safer to use regular connectors, with sockets on the donor side of power supply and pins on the receiving (passive) side.
