In principle, any electronic device can be susceptible to electromagnetic pulses generated by the explosion of a conventional nuclear bomb. Similar phenomena can also be the effect of electromagnetic weapon like the so-called E-bombs based on the generation of electromagnetic pulses without splitting atoms.
With the current level of development of electronics, where microcontrollers with significant computing power are found even in a toys, the occurrence of such disturbances, generated at great heights above the ground, can lead to switching off, resetting or even damage to infrastructure elements connected to the power supply network due to the penetration of disturbances from the network side or the direct impact of this disturbance on the object.
In connection with the above, an important element of protection against pulse weapons is screening + filtering of all lines entering appropriately screened rooms or buildings of critical infrastructure.
The MPE company designs and manufactures filters protecting against EMP phenomena and was the first in the world to obtain confirmation of the effectiveness of solutions in an independent laboratory. The filters guarantee shielding continuity and protection against E1 and E2 pulses in accordance with MIL-STD-188-125-1A requirements.
